About The Position

Planet Aid, a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting and recycling used textiles for environmental protection and supporting sustainable development, is seeking a full-time, Hybrid Warehouse/Driver. This role reports to the Operations Manager and involves assisting in the transportation of donated materials, as well as loading and unloading materials into the warehouse. Warehouse responsibilities include packaging, bailing, and bagging clothing for shipment, processing unloaded material, recycling, and general cleaning using various equipment. Transportation duties involve driving trucks up to 20-foot box trucks, servicing designated routes, collecting materials from bins, and maintaining the cleanliness of bin sites. The time split between warehouse and transportation duties will vary based on business needs and seasonal demand, requiring flexibility.

Requirements

High School Degree and 1 year of driving small commercial trucks, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret maps and GPS technology.
Ability to complete paperwork accurately and completely.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees.
Must be able to read, speak, write and understand Basic English.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and a DOT physical.
Have a good driving record without major incidents that meets Planet Aid’s insurability standard.
Adhere to and enforce all safety procedures.
Demonstrate safe driving skills.
Capable of operating a large box truck in congested Metropolitan areas.
Prepared to work in any traffic or weather conditions according to the pickup locations.
Follow directions and possess a "can do" attitude.

Responsibilities

Assist in the transportation of donated materials.
Load and unload materials from company trucks and contractors into the warehouse.
Ensure accurate and timely packaging, bailing, and bagging of donated clothing for shipment.
Carefully transfer, package, and store materials.
Effectively utilize resources.
Operate forklift.
Process unloaded material.
Engage in recycling activities.
Perform general cleaning using rolling carts, fork trucks, and manual labor.
Drive trucks of multiple sizes up to 20-foot box trucks.
Transport material from host locations to Planet Aid Business Units.
Service provided sites and routes daily.
Collect all bagged and loose clothes/shoes in and around the bins.
Maintain the proper maintenance of sites, including cleaning and collecting and disposing of unusable items in and around the bins.
Unload Trucks
Weigh up Carts, Cages, or Cap Sack Stands
Organize weighed carts in the designated area
Sort and organize all miscellaneous items
Maintain a clean working area environment including emptying garbage cans, clearing broken glass or debris, and sweeping daily
Demonstrate safe/efficient driving skills
Comply with Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines
Provide good customer service and the ability to communicate verbally with customers in a professional manner.
Service the donations bins designated on a route daily
Empty the donation bin, clean and collect eventual rubbish disposed of in and around the bins
Communicate with management any problem or safety preoccupation taken
