About The Position

VULCAN is a precision engineering, manufacturing, and machining company dedicated to producing high-performance, mission-critical components, and solutions for energy, defense, aerospace, and heavy industrial industries. We are hiring a full-time Warehouse Associate and Material handler for our world-class manufacturing facility in Mansfield, Texas. The Warehouse Associate/Material handler assembles orders and prepares goods for production. Unpacks, inspects, and stores incoming materials and supplies. Use records to verify the accuracy of job orders. Documents damages and discrepancies for reconciliation. Maintains complete paperwork. Must have the ability to operate warehouse equipment in a safe manner including certification as necessary. This role reports to the Warehouse Manager.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of warehouse and forklift experience required
  • Intermediate PC skills
  • Willingness to follow Safety requirements
  • Willingness to adhere to standard processes and instructions
  • Mechanically inclined with the use of hand tools
  • Ability to work in shop environment
  • Self-motivated and goal driven
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good organization, interpersonal, and interaction skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Demonstrated adaptability to unplanned events and changing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Knowledge of WMS or ERP preferred (ex: SAP, Syteline)
  • Forklift experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Warehouse materials handler interface frequently with production and manufacturing staff to answer questions or solve problems.
  • Keep and verify records on incoming and outgoing job orders.
  • Take part in inventory control activities such as cycle counting.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Collaborate with production staff to stage expected job orders or materials daily.
  • Receive trucks and sign paperwork upon receipt including verification of quantity, quality of items received.
  • Inspect contents for defects and damage and manages OS&D documentation and follow-up for receipts including communications and follow up with customer service and purchasing.
  • Unload packages from incoming trucks.
  • Verify material according to job order and record amount staged.
  • Check in materials, affix labels and allocate them to their designated storage location within an ERP system.
  • Stack materials in designated storage location.
  • Pick materials from storage location and package for shipment or production staging.
  • Organize warehouse space and keep clean daily.
  • Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures including LEAN practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control.
  • Follow all safety codes and procedures.
  • Unload and load shipments as well as the clerical skills to maintain business records.
  • Must be articulate, self-starter and enjoy working with people.
  • Must have the ability to be trained in the operation of multiple styles of forklift.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by warehouse supervisor / manager.
