Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Three months or more related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the Internet.
  • Previous forklift/cherry picker experience.
  • Basic safety knowledge (i.e., proper lifting techniques, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Verifies and records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Drives equipment to transport items within the warehouse.
  • Uses computer to enter records.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
  • Sorts and places material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code.
  • Sorts and stores stocked goods in warehouse.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to customers and sales.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Verifies the product that has been picked and documents discrepancies on an error log and has correct product re-picked.
  • Confirm tickets.
  • Consolidates freight for shipping.
  • Loads trucks for delivery to customers.
  • Facilitates and distributes shipping tickets.
  • Verifies shipping method.
  • Manages delayed release tickets.
  • Communicates oversize loads to freight carriers.
  • Inspects and maintains printing equipment.
  • Ensures shipping routes are maintained.
  • Receive pipe and conduit.
  • Prepare pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders.
