About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving customer-owned inventory, cycle counting, database management, pulling customer-owned inventory for shipment, and other duties as assigned. Skills in the areas of organization, warehousing, inventory audit, word processing, automated cycle counts, and barcoding are inherent to this position.

  • D.O.T. physical/certification in states that require a drug screen, criminal background investigation with job performance reference check, and required testing, a valid Driver's License, and compliance with the Company's Driver Qualification Policy

Responsibilities

  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines incoming requirements and position of shipments.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks and lays out the position of shipment.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded containers.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and staging areas.
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders. Posts weights and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices orders or other records.
  • Determines the method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping label on packed cartons identifying shipping information.
  • Assembles cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
  • Places identifying information and shipping information onto shipping containers.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, reject damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and staging area.
