About The Position

Located at 70 - 4th St, our Downtown store's warehouse serves as Cole Hardware's internal "distribution center", receiving high volume shipments and facilitating distribution to our five stores. As a warehouse associate, you'll be responsible for all functions and paperwork relating to receiving and distributing product. This position operates pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment safely and correctly. The warehouse associate must maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products entering the store, including verifying actual products against packing slips and confirming product integrity. The warehouse associate must initial and code invoices, log invoices, and distribute them to appropriate departments. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate receiving records, organization, and cleanliness of receiving area and trash areas. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 4:30AM SHIFTS AT LEAST TWICE WEEKLY ON MONDAYS & THURSDAYS

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years prior receiving experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently yet have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and Store leadership.
  • Knowledgeably communicate with vendors over email.
  • Ability to understand proper retail receiving.
  • Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to operate hand truck, pallet jack, and other equipment
  • Able to move and handle boxes/totes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails walking, standing, bending, and performing all functions as set forth
  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Receives all products for the store, inspecting for shortages, overages, damage, and quality using a handheld device or inventory computer system
  • Examines contents and compares them with records, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of shipments.
  • Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
  • Keeps careful invoice files and records and follows established procedures
  • Works closely with the buying team and store management to make arrangements for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Follows merchandise pricing and tagging procedures
  • Delivers or routes products to appropriate departments or storage areas.
  • Attends all applicable training and is able to use or is certified in the use of appropriate equipment (including pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.) needed for the store or facility.
  • Maintains courteous relationships with drivers and vendors.
  • Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
  • Operates all equipment safely and correctly.
  • Assist on the sales floor as needed
  • Assist with stocking
  • Assist with store services: key copy, assembly, woodcuts, glass cut, and others.
  • Other related duties as assigned
