About The Position

The Receiver role within the Distribution Center (DC) of Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) is responsible for receiving merchandise into the Warehouse Management System using an RF scanner. This role ensures adherence to established standards in safety, quality, and productivity. Key duties include unloading trailers and containers, operating powered equipment, inspecting items for damage, and verifying against worksheets while noting any discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate industrial powered equipment and attain any associated licensing.
  • Ability to physically unload merchandise and operate technology such as an RF scanner.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
  • Responsible for physical activities including, but not limited to, using equipment, positioning self to properly complete tasks, ascending and descending to heights of twenty (20) feet or more safely and without limitation as well as moving and transporting merchandise on a frequent basis.
  • Should be able to lift and move fifty (50) lbs of material on a regular basis.
  • Should be able to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience is welcomed, but not required.
  • Prior knowledge of safety related and OSHA, federal and state regulations are preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required for a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately complete and submit daily productivity sheets.
  • Receive and sort merchandise into warehouse inventory with real time RF scanner to facilitate reporting of shortages, overages, and damages.
  • Verify accuracy of freight by inspecting samples of each product.
  • Ensure pallets are properly built with no overhang or height restriction violations.
  • Work in compliance with standard operating procedures, audit-control procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work space to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
