About The Position

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing shipments involving inventory. Duties include verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material. May prepare items for shipment. Additionally, the Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for receiving, unloading, sorting, and staging of pallets for production, and manage pallet inventory levels for production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to utilize software.
  • Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
  • Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
  • Certified Forklift operator.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing shipments involving inventory.
  • Verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material.
  • Preparing items for shipment.
  • Receiving, unloading, sorting, and staging of pallets for production.
  • Managing pallet inventory levels for production.
  • Performing the receiving operation in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program.
  • Maintaining procedures concerning operation unless the training program is changed and properly recorded concerning procedure.
  • Loading and unloading all trailers and containers, seeing that they are first properly locked and chocked.
  • Unloading pallets from inbound vendor trailers, ensuring receiving paperwork is correct, and free of errors.
  • Sorting pallets for compliance within SCT expectations, inspecting each pallet for AIB compliance, rejecting/isolating pallets that do not meet the requirements.
  • Labeling all pallets free from error with LPN unique identifier.
  • Managing inventory of rejected pallets, odds, and cores.
  • Identifying when a load of rejected pallets need to be returned to the vendor.
  • Adjusting to and following new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
  • Assisting at each physical inventory if needed.
  • Communicating using email and phone calls with fellow SCT team members.
  • Unloading all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors.
  • Inspecting quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments, and recording on paperwork.
  • Keeping the work area clean and orderly, including articles that fall outside in the daily loading and unloading.
  • Performing daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment.
  • Maintaining order in the warehouse storage areas in the performance of your duties.
  • Being a Certified Forklift operator, and carrying a copy of your certification.
