Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

  • Ten-Hour OSHA Construction Certification
  • Four-Hour DOB Scaffolding Certification within 3 months of hire
  • Possess S-78 certification or obtain it within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to packing lists and forwarding to Accounting for processing.
  • Read Requisition Forms, Purchase Orders, or Packing Lists to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
  • Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
  • Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople, project engineers, and other employees.
  • Assemble client orders from stock and place orders on shelves or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department.
  • Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Open boxes, crates, and other containers.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Perform accurate counting and reconciliation of physical inventory with system inventory.
  • Weigh and count items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other departments.
  • Prepare parcels for mailing.
  • May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed.
  • Sweep, dust, and mop.
  • Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
  • Wear the proper safety equipment.
