Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • Starting hourly rate $22.54
  • Handles up to 50# over 50% of shift or equivalent such as heavy boxes, pallets, & 75# under 5% of shift.
  • Ordinary visual effort, over 50% of shift; observing operation of equipment, inspecting ware for obvious defects, steering hand trucks, packing ware preparing cartons.
  • Meets tolerances such as adjusting equipment to compensate for ware variation such as warp, monitor silicon system to maintain proper operation.
  • Sets up and adjusts coating equipment, stacking equipment by adjusting valves, operating control panels; operates taping, banding, and hand trucks.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, packaging equipment, stacking equipment, Vac-Q-Veyors, specifications for quality control and packing; adjustments to remedy production difficulties for various ware shapes, sizes and changing environment.
  • Solving problems such as how to correct ware being rejected for improper over spray, stack counts, ware jam-ups on conveyors and stackers.
  • Performs first level of troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ordinary care to prevent special investment loss from: damage to stacking equipment, such as jams, dry pumps due to operator's failure to make correct equipment adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects a variety of ware at any stage for all types of visual, dimensional, glass quality, and decorating defects using limit samples, gauges, and written specifications.
  • Inspects ware for dimensional conformance to specifications using such devices as dial gauges, thickness gauges, go-no-go, feeler gauges, and flat plate (among others gauge types).
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results including number of pieces rejected, type of ware rejected, reason for rejecting, and making appropriate forms as instructed.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, sketches, photographs etc. as required or instructed.
  • Wipe, wrap, and pack ware using cloth, wrapping paper and/or plastic, cardboard, pads, spacers, dividers, packing cartons.
  • Operates switches, foot pedals, etc. on packing machines, stitches, etc.
  • Operates and troubleshoots ware handling equipment, sets up equipment and performs minor maintenance of material handling equipment, maintains non-conformity counts, tracks position output to maintain schedule compliance, packs ware, prepares packing materials within clearly established directions and specifications.
  • Involved and participates in lean manufacturing systems up to and including 5S and Problem-Solving practices.
  • Make equipment adjustments, e.g., air regulators.
  • Checks photo-eye operation.
  • Cleans ware jam-ups.
  • Logs equipment downtime and problems.
  • Maintains S.O.S data on equipment and processes.
  • Responsible for first level troubleshooting of equipment and processes and notifies appropriate personnel of major mechanical troubles and operating issues.
  • Packs ware to specification, build boxes and covers, positions pallets, checks ware tickets, records appropriate ware counts, operates hand trucks and power operated "Walkie-Stackers".
  • Handles battery changing equipment and chargers, operates tape machine, labels boxes, straps and bands pallets of ware, operates lift truck.
  • Cleans ware handling equipment and maintains a clean, orderly work area.
  • May be called upon to perform a function that results in the generation of hazardous waste and therefore may be required to attend relevant RCRA training.
