About The Position

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is hosting 'Walk in Wednesdays' throughout October, starting on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This event provides an opportunity for qualified candidates to attend on-the-spot interviews. To expedite the process, candidates are encouraged to apply in advance with an updated resume and bring a copy to the event. Business casual or professional attire is recommended. Attendees should enter through the Main Entrance and proceed to Human Resources, where resumes will be screened for minimum qualifications. If qualifications are met, an Applicant Screening Form will be completed, and HR will contact the appropriate Hiring Manager for an interview.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Medical Cardiac: Minimum 1 year of full-time acute care RN experience required (if PRN or part-time than 2 years of experience required)
  • Ortho: Minimum 1 year of full-time acute care RN experience required (if PRN or part-time than 2 years of experience required)
  • PCU: Minimum 2 years of recent critical care (ICU or PCU) RN experience required
  • ICU: Minimum 2 years of recent critical care (ICU or PCU) RN experience required
  • Float Pool: Minimum 2 years of recent critical care (ICU or PCU) RN experience required
  • ER: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (ER experience preferred)
  • OBGYN: Minimum 2 years of women or newborn health RN experience required
  • Surgery: Minimum 2 years of surgery, endoscopy, or operating room RN experience required
  • Cath Lab: Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience (ICU, CCU, CVICU, ER, or IR) RN experience required
  • Interventional Radiology: 2 years of recent critical care experience (ICU, CCU, CVICU, ER, or IR) RN experience required
  • Current active Florida or Compact Nursing License.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at start date.
  • Basic computer skills
  • All Nursing Units/Depts (except Newborn Nursery) – ACLS (Within 90 days of start date)
  • Women’s Center (OB/GYN, Newborn Nursery) - NRP (Within 90 days of start date)
  • ICU/PCU – NIH (New graduate RN’s within 90 days of start date)
  • ER-NIH, PALS and Crisis Intervention/De-escalation training (Within 90 days of start date)
  • PACU – PALS (Within 90 days of start date)
  • Cath Lab – Minimum of 2 years of recent critical care experience in one of the following: ICU, CCU/CVICU, Emergency Department, Cath Lab (if experienced)
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as Unit Secretary/ Nursing Assistant, Medic or EMT/Paramedic, preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at start date.
  • CNA Certification required.
  • For Emergency Room, CPI required within 6 months.
  • Demonstrated track record for excellent communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 months of active phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification from a phlebotomy program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record for excellent communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required.
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 1-year surgical technologist preferred
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at start date.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification required.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal training in an AMA approved school with at least 2 years of experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Advanced Imaging Experience (CT, MRI, CI, VIR) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized patient care plans while providing exceptional, patient-centered nursing care.
  • Collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to coordinate treatment, education, discharge planning, and care transitions.
  • Monitors patient conditions, administers treatments and medications, and utilizes critical thinking to ensure timely interventions and positive outcomes.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic health record while leveraging technology and evidence-based practices to support quality care and patient safety.
  • Advocates for patients and families by promoting communication, teamwork, education, and a safe, healing environment throughout the care journey.
  • Provides comprehensive patient care support, including personal hygiene, mobility assistance, nutrition, elimination needs, comfort measures, and age-appropriate care while maintaining patient dignity and safety under direction of the RN.
  • Accurately documents patient information, vital signs, treatments, intake/output, and medical records while utilizing electronic medical record systems and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Communicates effectively with nurses, providers, patients, families, and ancillary departments to coordinate care, report changes in condition, and support efficient unit operations.
  • Maintains a safe and organized care environment by implementing fall and infection prevention measures, managing equipment and supplies, assisting with patient transport, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, technical, and clinical skills by prioritizing tasks, supporting admissions and discharges, performing approved clinical competencies, and contributing to patient flow and team-based care.
  • Perform accurate specimen collection and maintain a venipuncture success rate above 95%
  • Verify patient identity and ensure timely, accurate specimen labeling and documentation
  • Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) for order entry, specimen verification, and report distribution.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and quality assurance procedures, including proper disposal of materials.
  • Support laboratory operations through schedule flexibility, teamwork, and completion of required annual training and competencies.
  • Prepares operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for surgical procedures.
  • Maintains strict sterile technique and aseptic practices throughout all phases of surgery.
  • Anticipates surgeon needs and provides intraoperative support, including instrument handling, tissue exposure, and surgical site visualization.
  • Performs and documents accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts to promote patient safety.
  • Assists with patient positioning, specimen management, OR safety protocals, and post-procedure room turnover.
  • Performs diagnostic imaging procedures independently across multiple modalities/specialties, ensuring high-quality images, patient safety, and radiation protection.
  • Supports radiologists during procedures, manages documentation, completes quality control activities, and maintains compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs patient assessments and delivers age-appropriate care for patients from infancy through geriatrics, including safe administration of contrast and medications within scope of practice.
  • Maintains accurate medical records, completes required forms and incident reports, and ensures proper exam scheduling, charging, and PACS documentation.
  • Demonstrates leadership, professionalism, technical expertise, and regulatory compliance while supporting departmental operations, continuing education, and on-call coverage.
