About The Position

Unidine is hiring immediately for part time WAITER/WAITRESS positions. This role involves taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests in a senior living environment. You will greet guests warmly, follow established steps of service, and ensure food is delivered promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards. The position requires demonstrating a complete understanding of menu items and ingredients, advising guests on food and drink combinations, and accommodating reasonable requests. You will also communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff, handle cash-handling procedures, and promote a clean, safe, and neat environment. Maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality regarding guest information and promptly addressing complaints are also key aspects of this role. You will be responsible for setting up and cleaning the dining room, operating various equipment, and collaborating with other departments for special events.

Requirements

Senior Living experience or previous serving experience preferred.
Ability to demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients.
Ability to accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others.
Flexibility and patience when communicating with guests and staff.
Ability to follow proper cash-handling procedures.
Ability to maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information.
Ability to promptly address complaints or issues.
Ability to work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly in the dining room and take food and beverage orders efficiently, following established steps of service.
Deliver food promptly and professionally, maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests.
Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients.
Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested, and accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences.
Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared.
Promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information or complaints directly to the supervisor.
Ensure the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period, and keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards.
Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
