About The Position

This position is for a VTL Machinist on the 3rd shift. The role involves operating Vertical Lathe Machines, potentially running multiple machines simultaneously within manufacturing cells. The machinist will work with challenging materials like Inconel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel, requiring the ability to read and interpret operation sheets, perform mathematical calculations, and use Fanuc controls for offsets. Responsibilities include loading parts onto fixtures and operating hoists for machine loading. Familiarity with Right-Angle Heads, Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), and working within tight tolerances (thousandths) is essential. Additional duties may be assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years operating CNC Machinery in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with major aerospace OEMs (Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, Rolls Royce, etc..)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk up a few stairs on machine platforms to access machines
  • Team player with the skills to work with people at all levels in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret CNC Programs at the machine
  • Able to read tool sheets and set up tools for use on a job or part
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably in Aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with operation of Right-Angle Heads
  • Must have Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
  • Must possess the ability to work within tight tolerances such as thousandths

Responsibilities

  • Run Vertical Lathe Machines
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously where possible/feasible
  • Work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel
  • Read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
  • Be proficient in mathematics and be able to use a calculator
  • Use Fanuc controls and make offsets as required by the program
  • Load part onto a fixture
  • Load parts and fixtures onto hoists and operate hoist to load part onto machine
  • Operate Right-Angle Heads
  • Apply Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
  • Work within tight tolerances such as thousandths
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager
