About The Position

HUB is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented professional for the role of VP, Strategic Account Executive. This position involves providing complete service and benefit management for True Group clients with over 100 lives, acting as a liaison between the client, the firm, and carriers. The role requires a consultative and collaborative approach, working closely with leadership to foster a positive, high-performance culture aligned with HUB's values of education, innovation, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in benefits brokerage, insurance or employee benefits customer service, account administration, or a related field preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of minimum qualifications
  • State life and health insurance license, or ability to obtain, required
  • Professional designation through CEBS or HIA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits and the group insurance industry, including underwriting principles, carrier processes, and benefit funding strategies
  • Proven experience managing complex client relationships and delivering strategic benefit solutions in a consultative or client-facing environment
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing principles in the context of benefits consulting or brokerage
  • Ability to interpret and apply benefit-related regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA) and stay current with industry trends and legislative updates
  • Demonstrated success leading client meetings, delivering benefit presentations, and influencing strategic decisions across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency with data analysis related to premiums, claims, and plan performance; comfort with applying basic algebra and interpreting financial metrics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex benefit information clearly and persuasively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of complex True Group clients (>100 lives), ensuring high client satisfaction and retention.
  • Provide strategic consulting to clients on benefit plan design, funding strategies, carrier negotiations, compliance, and overall program management.
  • Lead client meetings (mid-year, quarterly, annual) to review plan performance, claims experience, and renewal strategy, presenting renewal and bid reports.
  • Negotiate optimal pricing and contract terms with carriers on behalf of clients, and evaluate/negotiate commission structures.
  • Develop and execute employee communication strategies in partnership with the Account Manager, including preparing and delivering benefit materials, meetings, and webinars.
  • Ensure coordination of plan changes and due diligence to prevent coverage loss during transitions or renewals.
  • Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for client and carrier inquiries regarding compliance, legislative updates, claims, plan provisions, and procedural matters.
  • Review and approve plan documents (master policy, SPD, ASA, etc.) for accuracy and completeness, and provide carrier direction as needed.
  • Coordinate ERISA and other legislative compliance requirements, and work with analysts on Form 5500 filings and client guidance.
  • Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities with other HUB specialties (P&C, Retirement, Personal Lines) and maximize existing client relationships for expansion and retention.
  • Support Great Plains EB Producers during the sales process by providing technical expertise and consultative insight.
  • Provide informal guidance and mentorship to Associate SAEs, Account Managers, and Financial Analysts supporting assigned client accounts.
  • Assist with the training and professional development of junior team members.
  • Collaborate with EB leadership and peers to support a high-performance, client-focused team culture reflecting HUB’s values.
  • Assist in client retention efforts across other Great Plains EB teams as needed.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with assigned carriers and vendors, focusing on positive client outcomes related to cost, contracts, and service.
  • Stay current on changes in the insurance industry, carrier landscape, and relevant legislation, communicating updates and recommendations.
  • Provide analytical and reporting support across the client portfolio, including renewal analysis, claims experience, mid-year planning, stewardship, and utilization reporting.
  • Assist with the creation of custom reports and complex data analysis to respond to client inquiries.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of renewal information, bid specifications, carrier proposals, and commission schedules.
  • Create an atmosphere of high morale, ethics, and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality of client and firm information.
  • Participate in professional or civic organizations as requested.
  • Respond to requests for information, reports, or research from other departments or firm management.
  • Travel on company business as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
