The VP Research, Site Engagement & Training will partner closely with community oncology practices across the OneOncology network to lead, support, and optimize site-level clinical research operations. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this role emphasizes hands-on engagement with practice-based research teams, investigators, and operational leaders to ensure high-quality trial execution, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and growth of research at the site level. While this role does not directly manage site-based employees, it is expected to drive adoption, alignment, and performance through influence, credibility, and escalation as needed. OneOncology’s research platform is growing rapidly, with multiple sites expected to double their respective programs over the next year. This individual will be critical to ensuring the success of these sites in maturing their operations to provide expanded patient access and clinical outcomes. This role requires exceptional judgment, resilience, and interpersonal skill, as it serves as the primary interface between a fast‑growing enterprise research platform and independent, highly autonomous community oncology practices with diverse needs, expectations, and operating models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in oncology clinical research with significant site-level leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing research operations within physician practice or community oncology settings
  • Strong understanding of GCP, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research operations within community oncology practice settings
  • Demonstrated ambition to grow and scale site-based clinical research programs
  • Strong working knowledge of site-level regulatory, financial, and operational requirements
  • Experience serving as a single point of accountability for external stakeholders (sites, sponsors, PIs)
  • Ability to build trust and effective partnerships with physicians and site staff
  • Proven experience improving site performance, enrollment, and operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and change-management skills
  • Attendance is an essential job function.

  • Experience managing or supporting multiple research sites or regions simultaneously preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational partner to practice leadership, investigators, and research staff at participating sites.
  • Establish shared executive accountability with the Vice President, Clinical Research Operations for the governance, coordination, and performance of clinical trial execution across OneR sites.
  • Own the implementation of SOPs, regulatory standards, and quality metrics at the site level.
  • Oversee and provide executive direction for site feasibility assessments, study start-up, and activation activities in collaboration with OneR research Operation, sponsors and CROs.
  • Provide executive leadership, coaching, and mentorship to site research leadership and staff, fostering operational excellence and staff development.
  • Owns and drives the development and launch of new site-level research programs, partnering with practice leadership to assess readiness, build infrastructure, and implement sustainable operating models.
  • Own the development and define performance metrics for site-facing training, onboarding, and capability-building programs to strengthen research execution and leadership at partner practices.
  • Identify barriers to enrollment and execution at sites and own the implemention of practical, site-centered solutions.
  • Owns there solution of complex or escalated site issues, including conflicts related to performance, resources, expectations, or alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction in collaboration with OneR Research Operations and IT teams to align systems and processes with site needs.
  • Drive accountability for site performance while maintaining strong, trusted relationships, including proactively identifying and escalating site engagement and operational challenges.
  • Define, monitor, and report on site performance metrics including enrollment, quality, audit readiness, and financial performance.
