GIC Private Limited•New York, NY
•$173,000 - $245,000•Hybrid

About The Position

GIC is a leading global long-term investor with over 2,000 employees worldwide. The Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group (PESG) provides a full spectrum of services for the Total Portfolio, including trading, advisory, funding, liquidity management, and applied quantitative research. Within PESG, the Execution Research & Advisory (ERA) team, based in Singapore and New York, specializes in multi-asset quantitative research focused on market microstructure and liquidity modeling to improve execution outcomes. ERA has two connected capabilities: Execution Research translates insights into practical execution solutions, and Execution Advisory provides guidance to traders and investment teams. Together, they aim to improve execution outcomes across GIC, protecting investment returns and reducing transaction costs. This role is for a Quantitative Research Analyst at the VP level, leading ERA's credit coverage from New York. The individual will work closely with traders and portfolio managers, identifying and solving emerging problems in credit execution. The role involves setting direction, identifying key research problems, translating ambiguous business questions into tractable research, managing stakeholder relationships, and steering the credit research agenda within a cross-asset team. The work will inform execution across GIC's global fixed income mandates.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in a quantitative research or markets role covering credit or broader fixed income (e.g., researcher, quantitative analyst, trader, portfolio manager), including experience taking research from problem formulation to application.
  • Knowledge of credit market structure: dealer intermediation and balance sheet constraints, RFQ and all-to-all protocols, portfolio trading, ETF-driven liquidity, and credit liquidity behavior under stress.
  • Familiarity with the credit data landscape (TRACE, consolidated tapes, evaluated pricing, dealer inventory indications, quote data) and its limitations.
  • Experience of fixed income transaction cost analysis (TCA).
  • A practical understanding of where ML/AI add value in execution research and decision support, and when simpler, more interpretable methods are preferable.
  • Ability to scope ill-defined problems into deliverable research.
  • Ability to allocate scarce research effort to the highest-value opportunities.
  • Ability to explain complex analysis precisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with rates or FX market structure, given the cross-asset remit.
  • Experience with kdb+/q and Databricks.
  • Experience representing a research team to dealers, trading platforms, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead GIC's credit execution research agenda, setting a multi-phase roadmap for market impact and liquidity modeling, counterparty and platform selection, portfolio trading, protocol choice, and transaction cost analysis (TCA).
  • Translate the roadmap into prioritized research with clear measures of success.
  • Apply advanced quantitative methods to high-granularity trade and quote data to answer novel questions, ensuring robust outcomes through a disciplined research process.
  • Serve as ERA's primary point of contact for Credit, managing stakeholder relationships with traders and portfolio managers, shaping the research agenda, and making prioritization decisions.
  • Guide the credit research roadmap for the proprietary execution analytics platform, proposing new models, metrics, and datasets, and collaborating with developers for production deployment and feedback.
  • Represent ERA's credit research externally, maintaining a view across peer institutions, dealers, trading platforms, vendors, and academic literature, and applying relevant market developments.
  • Strengthen research quality across the wider team by reviewing code and methodology, contributing to research discussions, and making credit insight transferable to rates, FX, and listed markets.
