About The Position

The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a crucial executive role responsible for overseeing and improving the efficiency, profitability, and compliance of the organization's operations. The VP of Operations will report directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and collaborate closely with other senior leaders to ensure alignment with our core values of Integrity, Compassion, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strategic mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a strong dedication to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Behavioral Health, Business Administration, Social Work or related field required.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and able to communicate effectively with employees, individual served, families, regulatory officials, state hospitals and the general public.
  • Must have compassion for and a desire to work with special populations with IDD and chronic illnesses.
  • Must have experience overseeing multiple communities/homes.
  • Experience with financial reporting and managing multiple budgets.
  • Ongoing approval by Federal, State and local government entities to work at the company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, medical management, and care plan record keeping and billing documents.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years in an AFC, nursing home administrator, or manager of operations position preferred.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health and human services related environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure organizational profitability by helping the leadership team meet and exceed budgets and clinical effectiveness.
  • Adhere to budgets; monitor staffing hours and overtime to prevent crises.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and company rules.
  • Develop systems to monitor operations, including occupancy rate, income and expenses, inventories, satisfaction, and meetings.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant, accurate records for individuals, prospective individuals, and employees.
  • Perform administrative duties, including month-end reports.
  • Adapt to changing duties based on individual needs, staffing, circumstances, and strategy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ensure fair and timely corrective actions, performance improvement, and training.
  • Contract and evaluate service contractor performance.
  • Cooperate with Beacon Specialized Living, the Department of Human Services (DHS) staff or any other regulatory body during any inspection, investigation or inquiry.

  • Ensure positive relationships with individuals, families, and employees by responding promptly to their needs, concerns, and suggestions.
  • Ensure BSLS activities and programs enrich individuals’ social, emotional, mental, and physical needs, and promote independent living skills.
  • Monitor physician-directed meal plans, kitchen sanitation, meal quality, service staff, cleanliness, and individual satisfaction.
  • Assist in developing and implementing succession plans for direct reports and Care Team Manager positions.
  • Manage state and local relationships with regulators.
  • Oversee marketing efforts, prospective individual support, follow-up, and occupancy rates.
  • Develop systems for determining individuals’ suitability for transfer based on their mental and physical conditions.
  • Assist Compliance with final responses, correspondence, and corrective action plans for investigations and inspections.
  • Lead by example and promote professionalism among staff, supporting team spirit and morale.
  • Recruit, hire, train, discipline, and supervise staff.
  • Facilitate the interviewing, placement, and training of direct and indirect reports.
  • Coordinate individual move-ins, transfers, and terminations as needed.
  • Ensure review of each individual’s status and ability to adhere to BSLS contracts.
  • Monitor both state and national advocacy groups (i.e. ARM, ANCOR, NJACP, PA-PAR, OH-OPRA, VA-The ARC).
  • Oversee Operations and collaborate with Clinical and Medical Services, Access Management, IT, Food Services, and Facilities/Maintenance.
  • Ensure systems are in place for training and onboarding direct reports and Care Team Managers.
  • Engage subordinates in problem-solving and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Seek continuous improvement and innovation in operational processes.
