About The Position

Luxer One is seeking a VP of Software Engineering to lead their technology division. This role is responsible for software engineering, cloud architecture, infrastructure/DevOps, firmware and embedded systems integration, and the systems connecting their product portfolio. The VP will play a key role in integrating acquired technologies, consolidating platforms, and executing the division's IP and technology strategy as Luxer One expands into access control, smart locks, sensors, and commercial security products. This is a business leadership role focused on organizational design, leader development, architectural evolution, and informed technical decision-making. The position reports directly to the Division President and is part of the executive leadership team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including direct management of engineering managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and scaling an engineering organization.
  • Experience leading high-volume, high-availability SaaS or cloud-based platforms, with strong command of modern architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
  • Experience in environments where software integrates with hardware, firmware, connected devices, or IoT technology.
  • Experience with M&A integration — evaluating, absorbing, or consolidating acquired technology platforms.
  • Strong business and financial acumen — able to connect engineering investment decisions to revenue, margin, and competitive positioning.
  • Experience operating at the executive level: presenting to senior leadership, holding P&L-aligned accountability, and driving decisions across functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with access control, smart lock, physical security, or connected device technology platforms.
  • Experience managing technology across multiple brands, product lines, or acquired businesses.
  • Experience with IP strategy, patent development, or technology licensing in a hardware-software company.
  • Experience designing or scaling an enterprise-grade API and integration ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or a comparable operating model.
  • Experience in a division of a large parent company with corporate governance and reporting obligations.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled product development or engineering AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Set the engineering direction for Luxer One's technology platform across all product lines, brands, and market segments.
  • Own architecture decisions for cloud infrastructure, SaaS platforms, APIs, integrations, mobile applications, firmware/embedded systems, and connected product technology.
  • Lead technology consolidation across acquired and legacy platforms.
  • Partner with business and legal leadership to develop and execute the division's IP strategy.
  • Lead the engineering organization's AI strategy.
  • Evaluate acquired and partner technology platforms for architectural fit, integration complexity, and consolidation path.
  • Lead the technical integration of acquisitions.
  • Make well-grounded build / buy / partner / consolidate decisions.
  • Drive platform evolution to support a growing and diversifying product portfolio.
  • Build, develop, and scale a high-performing engineering organization.
  • Build the management layer beneath you, recruiting, developing, and holding accountable Engineering Managers, Directors, and senior technical leads.
  • Establish clear roles, accountability, and a delivery culture.
  • Champion engineering culture: craft, ownership, accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Measure and improve performance against meaningful engineering metrics.
  • Own the scalability, availability, reliability, and performance of Luxer One's SaaS platforms.
  • Improve development, testing, deployment, and incident management practices.
  • Establish device fleet management and MDM capabilities.
  • Own the security, compliance, disaster recovery, and PCI/PII posture of the engineering organization.
  • Serve as a full member of the executive leadership team, participating in QBRs, planning sessions, and ASSA ABLOY leadership conversations.
