About The Position

Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) is seeking an experienced, visionary leader to serve as our Vice President of Physician Practice. This executive role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a high-performing rural health system while living and working in one of Colorado’s most breathtaking mountain communities. We are looking for a collaborative, strategic leader who thrives in a dynamic healthcare environment and is passionate about building strong physician partnerships, driving operational excellence, and advancing patient-centered care. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Physician Practice serves as the senior administrative leader for GVH’s medical group, including primary care and specialty clinics. This role oversees day-to-day operations, aligns clinical and operational strategy, and partners closely with physicians, executives, and community stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. You will play a pivotal role in advancing access, quality, and sustainability across our clinics while guiding growth and innovation in a rural healthcare setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field of study required.
  • Ten (10) plus years of progressive management experience in a large medical group demonstrating: executive leadership, understanding of governmental requirements and regulations related to quality, safety and revenue cycle management, leadership and supervision, problem solving and high internal motivation.
  • Maintenance of CPR/BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Healthcare Administration or MBA/MS preferred.
  • ACMPE or ACHE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize the performance of GVH’s physician practices across primary and specialty care
  • Partner in a dyad model with medical leadership to drive clinical and operational excellence
  • Implement and sustain efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and best practices
  • Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives, including new service lines and provider recruitment
  • Manage operational and capital budgets, ensuring strong fiscal stewardship
  • Drive revenue optimization, productivity, and cost management
  • Monitor financial performance, including P&L, accounts receivable, and key metrics
  • Establish and track performance dashboards to promote continuous improvement
  • Build trusted relationships with physicians and leaders across the organization
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance
  • Support provider compensation models (including wRVU) and clinic productivity
  • Lead recruitment, retention, and development of top talent
  • Ensure compliance with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) requirements and accreditation standards
  • Support Accountable Care Organization (ACO) initiatives and performance outcomes
  • Champion patient-centered care and service excellence
  • Promote a culture of safety, transparency, and continuous quality improvement
