About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) is seeking a VP of Health to advance its mission of preparing young people for academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good citizenship. This role will oversee the Social Worker program, strategic health initiatives, nursing, and Club-based health and wellness programming. The VP of Health will lead a new model that aligns social work services with strategic health partnerships and integrates Club-level wellness initiatives into a cohesive framework. This structural change aims to ensure more consistent program delivery, stronger resource development, an integrated case management model, and a coordinated staffing model, ultimately enabling BGCB to deliver a more holistic, streamlined, and impactful Health and Wellness strategy across the organization. The VP of Health is part of the Program & Impact (P&I) team and reports to the Chief Impact Officer.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution required.
  • Current independent licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical social work experience with youth and families, preferably in urban or community-based settings.
  • At least 2 years providing clinical supervision to social work staff, unlicensed interns, and graduate-level MSW field placement students.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based practices.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to manage crises calmly and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the development of youth from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and clinical supervision for Master’s level social workers (LICSW/LCSW), interns, and multidisciplinary staff, setting standards for ethical practice, licensure compliance, professional development, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage consultants providing weekly individual and group clinical supervision to licensed and unlicensed social work staff, interns, and graduate-level MSW field placement students.
  • Ensure supervision meets licensure requirements for social workers working toward independent practice.
  • Guide staff, interns, and MSW students in applying evidence-based, trauma-informed, and youth-centered approaches.
  • Review case documentation to ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and organizational standards.
  • Serve as an on-call resource for case consultation as needed across Clubs.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive social-emotional learning framework, incorporating the Clover Model and a holistic student assessment tool, ensuring consistent application across programs, building staff capacity through training, and using data-driven insights to strengthen youth development outcomes and individualized supports.
  • Develop and facilitate training for staff on topics such as trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, de-escalation, mandated reporting, cultural humility, and mental health awareness, in partnership with the People and Culture Learning & Development team.
  • Establish outcomes and goals, manage the database system, and use evaluation tools to track progress and program impact, in collaboration with the Vice-President of Operations, Impact, and Strategy and the Director of Evaluation and Outcomes.
  • Mentor youth development professionals in integrating social-emotional learning and restorative practices into daily programming.
  • Support staff, interns, and MSW field students through reflective practice, consultation, and capacity-building strategies.
  • Oversee all health-related divisions, including Nursing, Healthy Lifestyles, and nutrition/food programs, ensuring alignment across physical health, behavioral health, and wellness initiatives to deliver coordinated, outcomes-driven care.
  • Design and manage protocols for crisis intervention, safety planning, and emergency response, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining documentation integrity, and mitigating organizational risk.
  • Lead and assist in crisis response management, including consultation during high-stakes or emergent youth/family situations.
  • Collaborate with Program & Impact leadership to strengthen the organization’s trauma-informed designation.
  • Provide input on program design, evaluation, and policies to improve mental health support across Clubs.
  • Participate in cross-departmental teams and working groups to promote holistic support for young people.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with healthcare and community partners, including Boston Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.
  • Strengthen partnerships to expand access, referrals, and coordinated care pathways.
  • Build, oversee, and maintain partnerships with local mental health providers, schools, universities, and community agencies to build a pipeline of social workers (including interns), nurses, and other healthcare workers for BGCB.
