About The Position

Mednet is a free, physician-only community built to answer the complex clinical questions that define everyday practice. While most clinical support tools retrieve and summarize the same widely-available resources, Mednet surfaces the judgment, experience, and pattern recognition of leading experts. Our goal is simple: to give every physician access to the collective wisdom of medicine, no matter where they practice. We're looking for a VP of Engineering to lead our engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to set the technical direction of the org, drive execution, and provide hands-on mentorship, guidance, and upskilling to a team of 7 direct reports. You'll play a central role in owning the technical roadmap, building the management infrastructure that keeps the team performing at a high level, and serving as a key voice in senior leadership. You'll also collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to drive the continued evolution of our platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads with both technical depth and people instincts, and is as comfortable mentoring engineers as they are staying close to the work.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering management experience and building the structure and processes to scale them
• Hands-on technical leader who has stayed close to the work
• Experience building web and mobile products
• Proficiency with leveraging AI tools and development practices to increase engineering velocity
• Strong foundation in RAG systems, search, and information retrieval systems

• Background in product engineering and retrieval/ranking systems
• Experience implementing PLG motions through engineering and personalization
• Experience with personalization and ML/AI-driven recommendation or targeting systems

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of 7 engineers who will report directly to you
• Establish and own the processes that support a high-performing team, from progress tracking and performance reviews to day-to-day people management
• Serve as a key member of senior leadership and set the technical direction of the org
• Own the technical roadmap
• Collaborate closely with with cross-functional partners to drive the continued evolution of our platform
• Participate in senior leadership affairs and set the technical direction of the organization
• Proven track record implementing and owning engineering QA standards and practices across a team
