About The Position

Blooming Health is seeking an ambitious and resourceful VP of Engineering to lead its technology efforts and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This is a US-based role with preference to working on EST or CST. The VP will lead Blooming Health's engineering organization through its next phase of rapid growth, building and scaling a high-performing, distributed engineering team (US and global) capable of quickly delivering a complex, compliant, and world-class SaaS platform. This leader will drive technical strategy, operational excellence, and a culture of innovation and execution, ensuring tight alignment with product and business goals to meet ambitious commercial targets.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping a fully-built, customer-facing AI agentic solution.
  • Demonstrated success scaling an engineering organization through a high-growth phase at a B2B SaaS company, ideally within a startup/growth-stage environment.
  • Significant experience managing and leading geographically distributed engineering teams, with specific experience managing India-based teams strongly preferred. Understands communication, cultural nuances, and operational cadence for global teams.
  • Deep technical credibility, understand modern cloud architectures (GCP/AWS), APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and be capable of guiding strategic technical decisions and partnering effectively with architects.
  • Experience building multi-product platforms, managing the complexities of supporting capabilities as point solutions and as integrated solutions.
  • Experience implementing and maturing key engineering processes (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, incident management, monitoring, QA automation) leading to measurable improvements in predictability, quality, and reliability.
  • Proven ability to hire A+ talent, develop managers/leaders, build high morale, handle performance management, and foster career growth.
  • History of successfully partnering with Product, GTM, and other departments to achieve shared business goals. Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in health tech, particularly with EHR integrations (Epic/Cerner, FHIR), HIPAA, and the payer/provider ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with the lifecycle of AI/ML features, MLOps concepts, and managing teams working on data-intensive applications.
  • Experience working within regulated environments and achieving compliance certifications (NIST, SOC2, HITRUST awareness).
  • Experience with GCP, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Node.js, etc. is beneficial but less critical than leadership and scaling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain top engineering talent (managers, leads, individual contributors).
  • Design and evolve the engineering organizational structure (~7+ pods) for scalability and focus.
  • Own the end-to-end engineering execution lifecycle.
  • Implement and refine agile processes (SDLC, CI/CD, QA) to ensure predictable, high-quality, and timely delivery of roadmap commitments across multiple pods.
  • Partner with the CPO and CEO to define and execute the long-term technical vision.
  • Ensure the platform architecture is scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Oversee key technical decisions and manage technical debt.
  • Establish and drive improvements in system performance, reliability (SLOs/SLAs), monitoring, incident management, and overall operational maturity.
  • Foster a strong sense of ownership for production health.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow engineering leaders.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, results-oriented, and mission-driven engineering culture across distributed locations.
  • Serve as the engineering counterpart to Product (Director & CPO), Sales, Customer Success, and Operations.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration, alignment on priorities, and effective communication.
  • Manage the engineering budget, optimize resource allocation across pods/initiatives, and ensure efficient infrastructure spending.
  • Champion security best practices and ensure engineering processes support achieving and maintaining required compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC2, HITRUST).
