About The Position

This role is eligible to be performed remotely, however, if you reside within 60 miles of Lands’ End’s office in Dodgeville, WI or New York City, you will be expected to collaborate onsite in a hybrid fashion for up to 12 days per month. The Vice President, Global Marketplace is a transformative enterprise leader responsible for defining, accelerating, and optimizing the global strategy and performance of our Marketplace business. This role owns the vision, multiyear strategy, financial performance, partner ecosystem, and innovation roadmap for all third‑party marketplace channels worldwide. This leader ensures global process consistency, cross‑country scalability, and enterprise‑level governance to unlock growth, operational efficiencies, and product‑strategy alignment across regions. The VP, Global Marketplace will also provide dotted‑line leadership to marketplace teams outside the U.S., ensuring coordinated oversight—including Europe and any future regional marketplace teams. The ideal candidate brings extensive global marketplace leadership experience, a proven track record of building and scaling omnichannel marketplace businesses, strong financial discipline, and the ability to champion cross‑functional alignment at the highest levels of the organization.

  • Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, E‑Commerce, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in e‑commerce, digital marketplaces, or online retail; 5+ years in senior leadership overseeing global marketplace operations.
  • Proven track record of delivering growth at scale in Amazon and/or other major international marketplaces.

Responsibilities

  • Marketplace Strategy & Global Leadership Develop and own the global multiyear strategic roadmap for the Marketplace business, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and regional business objectives.
  • Define globally consistent marketplace processes, product standards, catalog governance, integrations, and operational frameworks to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Set global channel roles, revenue strategies, assortment architecture, partner strategy, and long-term growth pathways.
  • Lead and mentor marketplace leaders worldwide, with clear accountability for Amazon and non‑Amazon marketplace performance.
  • Provide dotted‑line leadership to regional marketplace roles, including Europe, to ensure alignment on execution, compliance, and strategy.
  • Champion innovation and emerging global marketplace opportunities to drive long‑term competitive advantage.
  • Global Business Growth & Financial Ownership Own the global Marketplace P&L, ensuring short‑term performance and long‑term profitable growth.
  • Set channel‑level goals, forecasting, and global investment strategies; partner with Finance to optimize resource allocation across regions.
  • Leverage global industry insights, competitive intelligence, and analytics to inform portfolio expansion and operational improvements.
  • Drive global growth with appropriate business controls, audit processes, and governance structures.
  • Marketplace Channel Excellence Oversee performance across all global marketplace channels—including Amazon—to ensure consistency, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide the organization toward best‑in‑class marketplace merchandising, catalog health, pricing governance, SEO, promotions optimization, supply chain efficiency, customer experience, and compliance.
  • Establish global KPIs, reporting standards, and dashboards to drive accountability.
  • Marketplace Brand Management & Distribution Control Own global marketplace brand governance, ensuring consistent brand representation, messaging, and product presentation across all markets.
  • Control and protect marketplace distribution rights—including ensuring alignment with WHP and joint‑venture partners—and prevent unauthorized selling or country‑expansion beyond approved territories (e.g., European countries outside current agreements).
  • Lead alignment with JV partners on who sells what, where, ens uring compliance with global contracts, licensing frameworks, and distribution agreements.
  • Partnerships & External Relationships Build and nurture high‑impact relationships with Amazon and other major global marketplace partners.
  • Negotiate strategic agreements and influence joint business planning across regions.
  • Expand the global partner ecosystem to include new marketplaces, vendors, and technology platforms.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership and Global Matrix Leadership Collaborate with Product, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, and Customer Service leaders to embed marketplace strategy into global processes.
  • Influence product and merchandising roadmaps to support global marketplace needs, including item set up, category mapping, product descriptions, and scalability.
  • Ensure digital capabilities, data flows, systems, and logistics support global scalability.
  • Data‑Driven Performance Management Drive a culture of global measurement, experimentation, and insight‑led decision‑making.
  • Lead global business reviews with senior leadership, communicating performance, growth, risks, and cross-country opportunities.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities across markets to enhance global profitability and customer experience.
