About The Position

As the VP, Government Affairs (Korea), you will be the face of Nscale for local municipalities, regional authorities, and the host communities of our high-tech AI infrastructure. Your mission is to ensure Nscale is recognised as a responsible, value-adding neighbour by bridging the gap between our technical operations and local stakeholders. You will report to the MD Korea and work day-to-day with Korea site teams to foster trust and community involvement.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of the Korean political system, from municipal councils to the national level.
  • 8+ years in community relations, public affairs, or regional development, ideally in the infrastructure, energy, or tech sectors.
  • Flawless written and spoken Korean (required for council meetings) and professional proficiency in English.
  • Proven ability to find "win-win" solutions balancing commercial needs with community concerns regarding land and energy use.
  • Degree in Political Science, Law, Public Administration, or Communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the Korean power market and how "grid queues" and capacity allocations work.
  • Pre-existing relationships with the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
  • Experience managing community pushback or local media "storms" regarding infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting and how local community engagement feeds into global sustainability targets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for mayors, local councils, and community leaders in existing and future site locations.
  • Design and lead "Good Neighbor" programs, including STEM educational partnerships with schools and support for local sports and culture.
  • Collaborate with site leads to navigate local zoning, building permits, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Facilitate partnerships with local industries or municipalities for excess heat utilization projects, such as district heating or greenhouse systems.
  • Represent Nscale at town hall meetings and industry forums or the Korea Data Center Council (KDCC).
  • Monitor local policy developments related to power grid access and the Data Center Strategy.
