About The Position

We are looking for a senior, enterprise-level talent leader to lead our global Early Careers function. This role requires a clear strategic bias, combined with the credibility and leadership presence to oversee global delivery teams and ensure execution lands as intended. The successful candidate will bring deep, hands-on Early Careers expertise from a complex, global organization, ideally recognized for strong Early Careers outcomes. They will have proven experience designing and evolving high-impact Early Careers programs, while also aligning multiple parts of the organization - including Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning, and Learning & Development - around a coherent, enterprise approach. The individual will bring the mindset and behaviors expected of a global functional head: setting vision, shaping strategy, representing Early Careers with senior stakeholders, and holding leaders accountable for outcomes. This role will be focused on enterprise strategy, capability direction, and leadership alignment, while maintaining oversight of delivery through clearly defined operating rhythms. Early Careers is a critical enterprise capability for State Street - shaping the next generation of professionals and leaders in a rapidly evolving environment defined by technology, AI, regulation, and changing client expectations. By combining strategic ownership and delivery accountability, the VP, Global Head of Early Careers role ensures that State Street’s Early Careers agenda is strategically aligned to long-term workforce and leadership capability needs, informed by workforce planning and future skills demand, integrated with learning and development to deliver sustained capability outcomes, consistently executed across regions and businesses, and represented at the appropriate senior level internally and externally. This role exists to ensure Early Careers functions as a coherent end-to-end capability that successfully acquires the talent that will help realize our future business objectives. Sitting within the Global Talent Acquisition leadership team, reporting to the Global Head of Talent Acquisition the role provides clear leadership, direction, and accountability for Early Careers outcomes worldwide.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading Early Careers or emerging talent functions in large, complex organizations, ideally within financial services or comparable industries
  • Proven track record of developing high-quality Early Careers programs and building strong external brand and market presence
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a functional head or equivalent enterprise leader
  • Strong strategic capability across talent, workforce planning, and early careers development
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing large, distributed teams
  • Credibility and confidence engaging with executive stakeholders and enterprise forums
  • Experience operating in regulated, matrixed environments
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Responsibilities

  • Act as the global owner and senior leader for Early Careers across State Street
  • Set and evolve the Early Careers strategy in line with enterprise workforce and leadership priorities
  • Define what good looks like for Early Careers, including capability outcomes, experience standards, and return on investment
  • Represent Early Careers in senior leadership forums, workforce discussions, and talent governance bodies
  • Partner closely with Workforce Intelligence and HR leadership to align Early Careers strategy with future skills, Labour-market insight, and organizational demand
  • Ensure clarity of purpose, scope, and accountability across the Early Careers portfolio
  • Provide executive oversight of global Early Careers delivery through regional and program leaders
  • Ensure the agreed operating model, program designs, and standards are implemented consistently worldwide
  • Hold delivery leads accountable for quality, performance, risk, and outcomes
  • Review delivery metrics, health indicators, and experience insights to assess effectiveness
  • Sponsor targeted change or investment where delivery outcomes indicate material gaps or opportunities
