About The Position

Banc of California is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional to join the Equipment Management team within the Equipment Finance Division. This role supports new business volume and profitability goals by providing independent valuation analysis, asset insight, portfolio management expertise, and senior-level guidance on collateral risk and transaction structure. The position requires a high degree of independent judgment and decision-making with limited supervision to deliver accurate, well-supported equipment valuations and sound asset management decisions. Responsibilities include equipment and industry research, residual valuation, portfolio management, and asset disposition. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent equipment management experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the asset management field within a financial institution or operating lessor.
  • Proven expertise and demonstrated ability to independently assess risk across a wide range of equipment types and lease structures.
  • Proficiency with financial calculators and software such as Supertrump, TValue, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present valuation conclusions clearly and persuasively.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • ASA (American Society of Appraisers) designation or active candidate status toward certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct equipment research and analysis to develop reliable residual and collateral value assessments for proposed transactions, including complex and specialized equipment transactions.
  • Prepare written valuation reports and conclusions suitable for internal credit and approval review.
  • Analyze market data and industry trends and exercise independent judgment in support of valuation, residual, and underwriting decisions.
  • Monitor asset performance and residual exposure across assigned portfolios to ensure accuracy and soundness.
  • Manage the return, storage, inspection, repair, marketing, and sale of off-lease equipment.
  • Maximize portfolio value through remarketing, renewal, and early termination opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external appraisers, remarketers, and other industry partners.
  • Serve as a senior equipment management resource and coordinate with internal stakeholders to align valuation assumptions, credit policy, and lease documentation standards.
  • Provide senior-level guidance and subject matter expertise to Credit, Portfolio Management, and Originations regarding equipment values, residual exposure, asset risk, transaction structure, and disposition strategies.
  • Deliver timely and accurate valuation updates, portfolio reviews, and asset-related reporting for management.
  • Maintain professional competence through continued education and industry training.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and audit standards.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
