About The Position

The purpose of the role is to buy and sell financial instruments, such as bonds, stocks, and derivatives, to generate revenue for the bank by the analysis of market conditions, execution of trades, and management of risk. This involves developing and implementing trading strategies, executing trades, maintaining records, monitoring global financial markets, and managing portfolio risk. The role also includes raising unsecured funding in the International Money Market and executing Structural Hedges for hedging IRRBB. The VP - EM Trader will manage trading portfolios with a budget of $6 million US dollars in Foreign Exchange and Interest Rates in Latin American currencies. This includes analyzing the local political scenario, market participants' behavior, local regulation, and idiosyncrasies of the local exchange. The role requires sustaining lasting relationships with local Hedge Funds, Banks, and the National Treasury, ensuring client development by working closely with Sales and Management, and performing risk management consistently with business principles. The position provides general financial desk support and transacts positions for the EM Business, taking ownership of the front-to-back franchise. Daily review of desk positions (risk and P&L) is required, ensuring local management is aware of client flows and key risk positions. Building long-term, trusted relationships throughout the organization through flawless execution and a collaborative attitude is essential. The role supervises 1 AVP and 1 Analyst Financial Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of trading strategies that align with the bank's risk appetite, investment objectives, and market conditions, and monitoring of market movements to adjust trading strategies accordingly.
  • Execution of trades on behalf of the bank, or proprietary trading desks, while adhering to the bank's trading strategies and risk parameters.
  • Maintenance of accurate and timely trading records, prepare daily and monthly trading reports, and contribute to the evaluation of the overall trading strategy.
  • Monitoring and analysis of global financial markets, economic indicators, news, and geopolitical events to identify trading opportunities and assess market risks.
  • Management and monitoring of the risk associated with the trading portfolio, including setting and maintaining stop-loss limits and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk management guidelines.
  • Raise unsecured funding in the International Money Market.
  • Execution of Structural Hedges for hedging IRRBB.

  • Review desk positions (i.e. risk and P&L) for adequacy and appropriateness each day.
  • Ensure local management is aware of client flows, key risk positions, and other relevant information on a need-to-know basis.
  • Build long-term, trusted relationships in every area of the organization through flawless execution and a collaborative attitude.
  • Supervise 1 AVP and 1 Analyst Financial Analysts.
