About The Position

First Citizens Commercial Real Estate originates and underwrites senior secured real estate transactions. With deep market expertise, underwriting experience and industry relationships, the unit provides financing for single properties, property portfolios and loan portfolios.

Requirements

  • VP Level: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Credit Underwriting or Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Credit Underwriting or Management.
  • Director Level: Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Credit Underwriting or Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Credit Underwriting or Management
  • Director: 15+ years of banking experience / VP: 10+ years of banking experience
  • Director: 10+ years of Commercial Real Estate experience / VP: 7+ years of Commercial Real Estate experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with banking systems such as Salesforce, nCino, Moody’s Credit Lens
  • Exposure to key loan Commercial Real Estate Lending loan documents
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, think critically, exercise sound judgement, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and successfully manage time.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to the Bank’s credit policies, procedures and standards
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of the BU to participate in closing new loans and, for construction loans, monitoring construction progress
  • Prepare informative, concise, and accurate quarterly and annual reviews that include well-structured rationale to justify recommended regulatory rating and risk gradings, with appropriate performance analyses that support such rationale. The PM should be able to provide updated projections, if needed, based on well substantiated assumptions consistent with property performance trends and market dynamics.
  • Analyze the credit impact of a potential amendment, consent, waiver, extension of the Loan Agreement or lease approval requests. The PM will work collaboratively and be responsible to lead negotiation of terms and conditions in consultation with portfolio management leadership and relationship managers, engage counsel for document drafting, and manage internal credit approval for timely closing.
  • Monitor operating and financial metrics and covenant compliance for a portfolio of credits upon the receipt of relevant reporting items. The PM will be responsible for comparing performance against bank’s base underwriting and escalating any concerns to senior portfolio management staff.
  • Work with offshore analysts to monitor timeliness of borrower deliverables and accuracy of loan spreads.
  • Mentor junior portfolio management team members
  • Answer audit inquiries for internal and external credit exams
  • Coordinate with middle office and various internal/external stakeholders to process loan payments and cash management transactions
