VP Construction (White Space Fit Out)

CPG BeyondDallas, TX
Onsite

About The Position

The Vice President of Construction (WSFO) provides executive leadership for the safe, predictable, and high-quality delivery of data center white space fit-out programs from preconstruction planning through commissioning integration and turnover. This leader oversees multi-site or multi-phase delivery that includes containment (hot/cold aisle), cable tray and conveyance, rack placement coordination, power distribution/busway and electrical distribution systems, grounding, and integration of structured cabling scope/interfaces, ensuring scope is installed correctly, cost is controlled, and schedules are met. The VP sets the operating cadence for delivery teams, drives partner performance (GCs, trade partners, OEMs), and ensures turnover readiness—especially where work must be planned around live environment requirements and formal turnover walk-downs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12+ years of progressive construction leadership, including senior leadership over mission-critical/data center/MEP-intensive programs; demonstrated oversight of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proven expertise in cost, schedule, quality, and risk management for complex construction programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams across preconstruction, procurement, construction execution, commissioning integration, and owner handover.
  • Experience delivering white space fit-outs involving containment/HAC, cable tray/conveyance, grounding, and integration of electrical distribution and connectivity infrastructure.
  • OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain) and familiarity with mission-critical safety and operational controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of project controls tools (e.g., Procore-based workflows and documentation discipline).
  • Build and lead regional/site leadership teams, including Construction Managers, Project Executives/PMs, Superintendents, QA/QC, Safety, and commissioning coordination.
  • Provide executive oversight of field execution and partner performance (GCs, trade partners, and OEMs).

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the construction delivery strategy for WSFO programs, including standardized execution playbooks, controls, and reporting across projects.
  • Build and lead high-performing regional/site leadership teams (Construction Managers, Project Executives/PMs, Superintendents, QA/QC, Safety, Commissioning coordination), ensuring clear accountability and decision velocity.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Design/Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, Operations, Security/IT interfaces) to ensure design-to-delivery alignment and constructability.
  • Oversee budget development, ROM/estimate reviews, bid leveling, and contract strategy (self-perform vs. subcontract), ensuring scope clarity and risk visibility before award.
  • Drive long-lead procurement strategies for mission-critical WSFO components (e.g., containment systems, busway/power distribution, cable tray/conveyance), including vendor performance management and delivery assurance.
  • Establish disciplined change management and cost controls (forecasting, earned value/progress validation, margin protection).
  • Provide executive oversight of field execution for WSFO scope including, as applicable: containment/HAC; overhead conveyance and cable tray systems; electrical distribution/power interfaces supporting white space (including busway/overhead conductors where part of fit-out); grounding; and safety/compliance measures in the white space.
  • Coordinate fiber optic/structured cabling scope boundaries and readiness; when delivered by others, ensure enabling infrastructure and interfaces are ready.
  • Ensure schedules are executable and maintained, with clear milestone logic tied to turnover requirements and commissioning integration.
  • Establish a consistent on-site governance model (daily/weekly production controls, constraint logs, issue escalation, and RFI/submittal discipline).
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and client/site requirements; lead incident prevention and safety audits.
  • Define and enforce WSFO QA/QC requirements, including inspection regimes, documentation rigor, and readiness validation prior to commissioning/turnover.
  • Ensure field documentation is current and controlled, including tracking MEP/critical-path changes and as-builts within the project management system.
  • Partner with commissioning authorities/teams to align construction completion with the commissioning schedule and readiness gates; ensure defects are closed rapidly to protect critical milestone dates.
  • Own turnover execution planning, including structured readiness walk-downs and turnover acceptance requirements.
  • Ensure all work in or near operational spaces complies with live environment controls (e.g., MSOW/MOP requirements, access tooling, work-freeze periods, and operations/security pre-approvals where applicable).
  • Serve as an executive point of contact for customers, providing transparent status, risk, and mitigation plans; build trust through predictable delivery.
  • Manage performance expectations and contract compliance for GCs, trades, and OEM partners; resolve escalations quickly while protecting safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across the WSFO portfolio, standardizing best practices for schedule certainty, quality outcomes, and cost control.
  • Build scalable processes, reporting standards, and governance suited for rapid, multi-site data center delivery.
