About The Position

The VP/Commercial Portfolio Manager II provides strategic support to the East Region Commercial & Industrial Banking team. This role focuses on managing portfolio risk, supporting credit analysis, and assisting with special projects to ensure strong client relationships and sound credit practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience required.
  • Seven or more years of experience in commercial credit, commercial lending, or financial examination.
  • Proven experience with commercial lending and portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in risk assessment and managing problem loans.
  • Strong credit analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Ability to independently structure and negotiate non-complex loan transactions.
  • Ability to provide meaningful support for credit structuring and negotiating on more complex loan transactions, including reviewing loan documentation for accuracy.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with commercial banking leadership and designated bankers to manage existing client relationships and evaluate potential new clients.
  • Assist with onboarding customers, ensuring a smooth process through coordination with internal teams (Loan Coordinator, Treasury Management, Credit, etc.).
  • Monitor booked credit facilities, including interim financial reviews, borrowing base reviews, covenant compliance testing, annual reviews, and problem loan administration.
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare credit proposals for existing and prospective clients.
  • Review loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews, and problem loan summaries.
  • Maintain reporting infrastructure and develop portfolio trend reports to monitor risk and industry guidance.
  • Administer nonperforming loans and support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in establishing and negotiating credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements.
  • Mentor junior Portfolio Managers and assist in training future bankers and coordinators.
  • Support preparation of materials for team meetings, executive reports, audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
