About The Position

The VP, Commercial Banking Officer will be responsible for developing new loan business, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio. Also, he/she will represent the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs and by marketing all of the bank’s products and services. Requirements

  • 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking services, especially as it relates to lending.
  • Display knowledge and abilities to analyze financial information.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to develop and exercise interpersonal skills in negotiating and selling.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain specialized technical and product knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, with basic understanding of business and economic subjects.
  • Two to four years of loan and banking experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Generate commercial loans and fee income while properly managing the risk of the loan portfolio in accordance with bank policy, procedures, and complying with regulations.
  • Service credit needs of customers and prospects; obtaining financial and other information; analyze credits; recommend approval to senior management or the credit committee where required; and negotiate terms and conditions such as rates, collateral, guarantees, loan agreements, and other documentation.
  • Generate deposits and assist in the sale of other bank products and services.
  • Proactive loan portfolio management to ensure minimum risk of loss on all loans.
  • Act as financial consultant to customers and prospects which require maintenance of technical knowledge.
  • Responsible to manage and grow commercial and public deposit base as directed. Solicit the business of new and established customers.
  • Acts as a relationship manager for customers ensuring customer satisfaction and the resolution of service problems.
  • Maintain product and selling knowledge to generate credit, deposit, and fee business.
  • Monitor the quality of book of loans and credit accounts. Maintain a well-mixed book of business while maintaining diversification and monitoring financial risk. Complete credit pool analysis.
  • Responsible for preparation of appropriate action plans as assigned.
  • Analyze and decision commercial loans promptly upon completion of the analysis.
  • Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, and regulations.
  • Applies on-going supervision and review of the credit until ultimate collection or loan payoff.
  • Monitor/mentor junior leaders as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow and enforce First Federal Bank of Wisconsin policies and procedures.
  • Follow and enforce all state and federal banking regulations.
  • Adhere to BSA/AML/CFT/OFAC policy and requirements during all customer interactions.
  • Verify customer identification and maintain compliance with the Customer Identification Program (CIP).
  • Monitor for suspicious activity and promptly escalate concerns to the BSA Officer.
  • Ensure OFAC screening is completed for applicable transactions.
  • Assist in gathering information for Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when required.
  • Participate in ongoing BSA/AML/OFAC training and maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements.
