About The Position

The Vice President, Colleague Communications leads the colleague communications team within a dynamic, fully integrated corporate communications department. This person will elevate the role of colleague communications and align it strategically with the company’s transformation, culture reset agenda, and performance imperatives. Based in New York City, this role reports to the Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and is a member of the Human Resources Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Strategic Communication Leadership – Ability to define and execute enterprise-wide internal communications strategies that align with business priorities, transformation initiatives, and culture objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development – Skilled in leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing communications team, including resource allocation, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Ability to partner effectively with HR, Operations, Stores, Merchants, Marketing, Tech, Legal, and senior leadership to ensure consistent and aligned messaging across all audiences.
  • Change Management & Culture Influence – Expertise in supporting culture change, colleague engagement, leadership communications, and embedding new behaviors and ways of working across the organization.
  • Analytics & Measurement – Skilled in establishing metrics, building dashboards, tracking engagement, and measuring the impact of communications on business and people outcomes.
  • Integration & Brand Alignment – Ability to ensure internal communications align with external brand messaging, enabling colleagues to act as ambassadors and maintaining consistency inside-out and outside-in.
  • Executive Advisory & Influence – Ability to advise senior leaders on communications strategies, providing guidance to influence organizational priorities and business outcomes.
  • Crisis & Risk Communications – Ability to lead communications strategy during high-stakes situations, mitigating reputational risk and maintaining stakeholder confidence.
  • Digital & Multi-Channel Expertise – Ability to leverage digital, social, and traditional channels effectively to reach diverse internal audiences with timely, relevant messaging.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership – Ability to anticipate emerging communication trends, technologies, and practices, and integrate them into enterprise communication strategy.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration – Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external partners, balancing competing priorities and aligning messaging across functions.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 15 plus years of experience in corporate communications or change management, working for a large, complex, multi-channel organization. Senior leaders with deep change, transformation, or HR backgrounds with demonstrated communications skills and leadership are encouraged to apply
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the colleague communications team, with a focus on messaging, content development, channel management and adoption, and executive communications while providing strategic direction, resource allocation, performance management, and talent development.
  • Execute communications strategies that advance the adoption of new ways of working, cultural ambitions and company values as an embedded member of a HR leadership team.
  • Define and execute an enterprise-wide internal communications strategy aligned with the company’s Bold New Chapter growth strategy, performance goals, and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, Stores, Merchants, Marketing, Legal, and Leadership to ensure messaging is consistent, timely, relevant, and aligned for all internal audiences, including stores, field, and corporate teams.
  • Establish ROI measurements by building dashboards, tracking engagement, and measuring the impact of internal communications on the business through reporting.
  • Ensure seamless integration between colleague communications and external brand communications, enabling colleagues to act as ambassadors and aligning messaging both inside-out and outside-in.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
