About The Position

As Vice President, Business Operations – Finance (Chief of Staff to the CFO), you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and serve as a trusted advisor and operational leader across both the Finance organization and the enterprise leadership team. This role sits at the center of strategy, execution, and leadership alignment, with a dual mandate: Acting as Chief of Staff to the CFO, enabling financial performance, planning, and operational excellence, and Leading key enterprise operating mechanisms, including CEO Leadership Team (ELT) cadence, Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), and the implementation of a new enterprise operating system. You will play a critical role in ensuring Thomson Reuters’ strategic priorities are translated into clear plans, aligned execution, and measurable outcomes. This is a highly visible role that operates across the executive leadership team and is designed as a developmental opportunity for a high-potential leader with the ability to influence at scale and drive enterprise impact.

Requirements

  • Experience in finance, strategy, consulting, operations, transformation, or Chief of Staff roles, with demonstrated ability to drive enterprise priorities and executive-level initiatives
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, business performance management, operating rhythms, and executive decision-making processes
  • Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives end-to-end, coordinating across Finance, business, and corporate functions to deliver within scope, timeline, and quality expectations
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization, especially with senior management and executives
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights, trade-offs, and recommendations
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect enterprise strategy, financial performance, and operational execution
  • Self-motivated, data-driven, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and able to balance strategic thinking with execution
  • Ability to move quickly while maintaining focus on high-impact priorities
  • Experience with enterprise-wide transformation, operating model, or strategy execution initiatives
  • Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the CEO Leadership Team operating cadence, including agenda setting, materials, and follow-ups
  • Own the design and execution of Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and other enterprise-wide forums
  • Establish and continuously improve a consistent operating rhythm that drives accountability, visibility, and decision-making across the organization
  • Ensure leadership discussions are focused, action-oriented, and aligned to enterprise priorities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Thomson Reuters’ enterprise operating system
  • Translate enterprise strategy into clear priorities, metrics, and execution frameworks
  • Partner across functions to ensure consistent adoption and disciplined execution
  • Monitor progress against strategic priorities and escalate risks, trade-offs, and misalignment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CFO
  • Manage the Finance leadership operating rhythm, including executive meetings and planning cycles
  • Support earnings preparation, board materials, and investor communications
  • Partner with Finance leaders to ensure alignment on priorities and performance
  • Support enterprise and Finance annual and multi-year strategic planning processes
  • Develop executive-ready materials for CFO, CEO, and Board decision-making
  • Act as a bridge between Finance and other functions to drive alignment
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve trade-offs
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization
  • Lead a limited number (1–2) of high-impact initiatives
  • Drive initiatives end-to-end, ensuring delivery against objectives and timelines
  • Optimize Finance processes and operating models
  • Champion data-driven decision-making and automation
  • Improve efficiency, transparency, and scalability within Finance
