About The Position

GM Financial Bank is a newly formed bank that will offer auto finance and deposit products. Team members joining now will play a pivotal role in shaping the bank from the ground up. The VP Bank Compliance Monitoring will conduct activity and testing and monitoring of selected business processes and controls, and the initial due diligence and subsequent periodic reviews and monitoring of consumer service providers and other applicable vendors. The VP will promote integrity, ethical compliance and build upon our established culture of compliance. The VP will have contact and interaction with all levels of management and departments across the organization.

Requirements

Deep expertise in consumer finance compliance, including automobile finance regulations, federal and state requirements, and the development and oversight of enterprise-wide compliance programs.
Strong regulatory and examination experience, with comprehensive knowledge of FDIC examination requirements, consumer protection laws, and bank compliance frameworks.
Proven ability to assess risk, analyze complex regulatory issues, and implement effective compliance solutions that support business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Influential communicator and relationship builder with experience partnering across all organizational levels, including executive leadership, regulators, and key business stakeholders.
Strong business acumen and banking knowledge, with the ability to understand business operations, evaluate compliance impacts, and provide practical, risk-based guidance.
Results-driven leader with exceptional analytical, organizational, and presentation skills, capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
7-10 years prior experience in financial services (preferably in auto finance)
5-7 years in testing and monitoring
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting and/or Quantitative Analytics, or related fields
Master’s Degree

Responsibilities

Analyze complex issues, apply analysis and use sound judgment to make strategic decisions to promote regulatory compliance monitoring goals and objectives
Lead teams to monitor both internal and vendor compliance with federal and state legal, regulatory, policy, and contractual requirements
Develop monitoring plans and schedules
Create relevant performance metrics, monitor department performance
Report on results of various testing and monitoring and management action plans/vendor remediation items to senior department management and external departments as necessary
Create an environment of trust, continuous improvement, open communication, diverse viewpoints, innovation, quality outcomes and self-development
Work with the Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer to set strategic goals, annual budget and related projects for compliance monitoring
Create relationships with consumer facing business units to maintain an evergreen approach to areas of potential testing and monitoring
Continuously leverage technology where possible to create efficiencies in monitoring activities
