VP, Accounting

Trellis Insurance Solutions LLCCharlotte, NC

About The Position

As Trellis Financial brings a new fixed indexed annuity to market, accurate and timely carrier reporting isn’t a back-office afterthought - it’s essential for carriers, auditors, and distribution partners to rely on our numbers. This isn’t a maintain-the-status-quo position. We’re looking for someone energized by the chance to build the reporting processes and deliverables that support our partners from the early stages, shaping the templates, workflows, and controls that let us respond quickly and accurately, rather than inheriting decades of legacy practice. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven, regulated environment where their work directly influences the integrity of the business and the experience of the partners who place business with us. If you’re the kind of accounting professional who wants to own the numbers and build the process behind them, not just close the books, this is your opportunity. POSITION SUMMARY The VP, Accounting will be the primary supporting relationship between Trellis Financial and its partner carriers, ensuring they receive the complete, accurate data they need to report on their books. The role will support the design, execution, and continuous improvement of Trellis’s deliverables and will serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for partner carrier staff and auditors. Reporting to the Controller, this is a role for a candidate with strong accounting fundamentals and insurance experience, operating as a senior individual contributor. A strong command of U.S. GAAP is required.

  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, large-data reconciliation). Experience with reporting/BI tools, SQL, or insurance accounting and policy systems is valued.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead reporting initiatives or process improvements in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills (oral, written, presentation), with the ability to build relationships, engage, and influence others. Must be comfortable communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior management.
  • A proven track record of professional, ethical behavior and acting with integrity.
