About The Position

Volunteers at Intermountain Healthcare serve in a variety of meaningful capacities that support our patients, visitors, and staff. As an unpaid volunteer, you contribute valuable time and talent that truly make a difference in our organization.

Requirements

• A minimum six‑month consecutive commitment.
• 3–4 hours weekly.
• Consistent attendance.
• 16 years of age.
• Work alone and independently.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing).
• Adequate hearing and vision.
• Sensitive to patient and family situations.

Responsibilities

• Engaging with individuals consistently, helping them find their way within the facility and to their appointments, maybe even escort them in a wheelchair.
• Assisting patients and staff on an individual nursing unit.
• Keeping guests updated regarding their patient having surgery.
• Assisting patients/staff in the Emergency Room, meeting their needs.
• Assisting customers with their purchases, pricing items, and using the cash register.
• Playing an instrument in the Hospital Lobby.
• Escorting guests within the facility and the campus.
• Offering items of comfort to patients within the hospital.
