About The Position

The Volunteer Success Specialist is responsible for fostering the growth and sustainability of the local volunteer community and delivers the council’s volunteer success process to increase volunteer retention. The Volunteer Success Specialist develops and works closely with teams of service unit volunteers and direct service volunteers to ensure they have the necessary resources to provide high-quality program experiences to youth members. They offer proactive, visible, and consistent support to GSCO volunteers with a focus on training, recognizing, and retaining volunteers and youth members. Frequent travel and field work required.

Requirements

No formal education or training requirements.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking and networking skills required.
Skills in conflict resolution and mediation.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite of programs.
Strong motivational, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing technologies.
Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards.
Access to registered transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company standards.

Nice To Haves

Experience in volunteer or account management preferred.
Experience in membership development, recruitment and/or retention
Experienced in data management using sales/customer management software (Salesforce) preferred.
Knowledge of volunteer management strategies preferred.
Bilingual and bicultural skills desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Implements volunteer support plans aligned with the council volunteer success methodology with a focus on volunteer recruitment, recognition, and retention; cultivates relationships with service unit and troop volunteers in assigned area to support delivery of Girl Scout programming
Supports troop leadership teams and caregivers in completing renewal of their Girl Scout membership on an annual basis
Delivers robust onboarding and first year support for new volunteers, ensuring volunteers connect with and complete required training and have the resources needed to successfully deliver a Girl Scout experience
Develops and partners with local service unit volunteer teams to support a hyper-local volunteer community offering volunteer connections, mentoring, and program support; identifies volunteers to join their local service unit team and supports recruitment and onboarding of volunteers into these advanced roles
Identifies the need for and provides timely problem solving and conflict resolution support/intervention when appropriate in coordination with the Volunteer Relations team.
Drives participation in council programs including service unit and troop participation in product programs and in council and partner-led events and program opportunities; raises awareness for programs through targeted promotion with local troops and volunteers.
Provides professional, superior customer service to all internal and external customers, members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts.
Actively participates in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
Respects the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and Girl Scouts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Collaborate with other members of the volunteer success team to ensure consistent delivery of the council volunteer success methodology including conflict interventions, volunteer training, and retention strategies.
Collaborate with the girl experience teams to drive participation in council and partner-led program opportunities.
Collaborate with the customer care and volunteer administration teams to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries and accuracy of membership data.
Collaborate with the Product Program team to drive participation in and deliver on a positive member experience within the product programs.
Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.
