Volunteer Substitute Teacher
About The Position
LifeWise substitute teachers will demonstrate excellence in Biblical knowledge and teaching abilities. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching students. The role involves completing substitute teacher training, teaching LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis, implementing provided lesson plans, maintaining a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment, following student discipline policy, taking and providing attendance records, maintaining a clean classroom, knowing emergency procedures, acting as a LifeWise Academy ambassador, communicating lesson plans and assigning duties to volunteers, and communicating with the teacher.
Requirements
- A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
- Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
Responsibilities
- Complete substitute teacher training
- Teach LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis
- Implement the lesson plans using the LifeWise curriculum provided by the teacher
- Maintain a safe, organized and stimulating classroom environment following LifeWise policies and procedures
- Follow the program's student discipline policy
- Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the teacher
- Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom
- Know procedures for emergency situations
- Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
- Communicate lesson plans with volunteers before class and assign duties
- Communicate with the teacher
