About The Position

At Kids' Food Basket, we believe every child deserves access to the nutritious food they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Through healthy food access, education, and community engagement, we work to nourish both body and mind while building stronger communities for children and families. As a Volunteer Steward serving through AmeriCorps, you’ll grow volunteer engagement, expand food access efforts, and help build sustainable systems that strengthen Kids' Food Basket’s community impact. This role focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers while expanding programming capacity across food access, education, agriculture, and community engagement initiatives. You’ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit leadership and volunteer coordination while serving alongside a passionate, mission-driven team.

Requirements

  • Age 18+ and a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to successfully complete required AmeriCorps background checks
  • Passion for Kids’ Food Basket’s mission and serving communities experiencing food insecurity
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lead and engage volunteers in a welcoming, collaborative environment
  • Flexibility, initiative, and willingness to engage in hands-on service activities

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, engage, train, and support non-AmeriCorps volunteers across KFB programming
  • Develop systems that improve volunteer retention, recognition, and long-term engagement
  • Expand capacity for Sack Supper distribution, food access efforts, and community partner programming
  • Increase capacity for produce harvest, food distribution, and summer program capacity-building
  • Expand volunteer opportunities through additional hours, locations, and partnerships
  • Participate in AmeriCorps trainings, monthly meetings, and service projects
  • Travel occasionally to partner and community sites to support programming needs
