About The Position

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is seeking an energetic, hands-on, people-focused Volunteer Program Specialist to join their team. This role involves welcoming and guiding volunteers, ensuring volunteer activities run smoothly, and working alongside individuals and groups to provide food to those in need across Eastern Wisconsin. The specialist will create a safe, organized, and engaging volunteer environment and contribute to the organization's mission to solve hunger.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed; overtime may be available based on operational needs.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record when driving for organizational business.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a customer service-related role.
  • Previous volunteer service experience or experience working with community groups.
  • Experience helping coordinate activities, guide groups, or support day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming experience for volunteers by greeting them, supporting orientation, answering questions, and fostering a connection to the mission.
  • Ensure volunteer shifts run smoothly by preparing work areas, organizing supplies, coordinating activities, and assisting with setup and cleanup.
  • Work alongside volunteers to provide guidance, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain productive and engaging activities.
  • Promote safe work practices, proper food handling, product quality, and an organized work environment.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities with operational needs, product flow, staffing, and program priorities.
  • Help recognize volunteers and encourage continued engagement with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
  • Adjust to changing needs and support special projects, community events, and occasional evening or weekend shifts.
