About The Position

Holisticare Hospice is seeking dedicated volunteers to join their team and provide joy, comfort, and support to patients. They offer various volunteer roles to suit different skills and interests, including direct patient interaction, behind-the-scenes support, and talent-sharing. Holisticare Hospice is a mission-driven, patient-centered leader in end-of-life care, committed to providing dignity, peace, and human connection. Volunteers are not paid employees and do not receive compensation.

Requirements

• A heart for serving others and an appreciation for the hospice mission.
• Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and deep respect for individuals and their unique journeys.
• Welcomes and values people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
• Must be able to pass background check requirements.
• For Pet Therapy Volunteer: Must have a certified and vaccinated pet.

Responsibilities

• Support the care team behind the scenes by helping in offices with tasks like light data entry, assembling packets, and sending cards to family members.
• Organize special memories for patients, such as sewing memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to offer companionship and give caregivers a break, engaging in activities like reading, hobbies, playing games, and listening.
• Share the love of a Certified Therapy Pet with patients.
• Use musical gifts to brighten patients' days and provide comfort to healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies to support and honor veteran patients.
