About The Position

A LifeWise teacher combines in-depth Bible knowledge and strong teaching abilities to share the gospel with public school students in a classroom setting. The role teaches LifeWise classes using the organization’s curriculum, builds relationships with students, and maintains an organized, encouraging, and engaging classroom. The teacher also keeps class records, maintains the classroom, communicates with school personnel and volunteers, and represents LifeWise Academy in the community. The position includes completing required initial and ongoing training and promoting LifeWise’s religious mission in all duties and interactions.

Requirements

• At least two years of classroom teaching experience with students in a school or church setting.
• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

• Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and before teaching in a LifeWise classroom.
• Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year.
• Attend at least one Teachers’ Lounge or LifeWise Meet-Up per year.
• Stay current on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email.
• Use the LifeWise curriculum to plan lessons and map out curriculum customization.
• Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom.
• Build relationships with students and pray for them regularly.
• Cultivate an organized, encouraging, and engaging classroom using varied teaching strategies and redemptive discipline.
• Apply LifeWise policies, procedures, and resources.
• Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the program director and/or school officials as needed.
• Maintain accurate class rosters, including student health concerns, special needs, and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips.
• Prepare sufficient information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.
• Know procedures for handling emergency situations.
• Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by the program director.
• Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador in the community.
• Attend the annual school open house and other outreach events as available.
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel about schedule changes and student well-being.
• Build relationships with volunteers and keep them informed of schedule changes.
• Submit regular updates, stories, and photos to the program director.
• Promote and communicate LifeWise’s religious mission in all duties and interactions, in alignment with the organization’s core values and beliefs.
