About The Position

The Volunteer & Corporate Engagement Manager is a strategic, relationship-driven role responsible for designing and growing volunteer opportunities and programs that connect corporations, community members, and subject-matter experts to the Amazeum’s mission in meaningful and mutually beneficial ways. This role focuses on building community connection, social cohesion, and a sense of shared purpose by creating pathways for community members to actively contribute their skills, expertise, interests, and passions to the Amazeum. Rather than managing a traditional volunteer program alone, this role designs and implements a flexible ecosystem of corporate engagement, group participation, and volunteer involvement that strengthens the Amazeum’s mission and amplifies its impact across the community. The Volunteer & Corporate Engagement Manager will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders — including corporate partners, donors, foundations, sponsors, and community leaders — to design engagements that expand the Amazeum’s reach and deepen its impact in the community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 18+ years of age at time of hire
  • 3+ years progressive experience in volunteer management, community engagement, corporate engagement,, partnership development, or a related field.
  • 1+ year customer service experience
  • 1+ year experience in training/education AND/OR people leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience designing or leading programs from concept through execution (beyond logistics coordination).
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with external partners such as corporations, nonprofits, or community organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, including facilitation, public speaking, and written communication.
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and shape new initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving critical thinking skills to include the ability to think on your feet and adjust plans smoothly in a public and group setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (some evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally within Northwest Arkansas for meetings with internal and external partners.
  • Provide the necessary documentation to prove that you are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a foreign national with authorization to work in the United States
  • Complete and pass a background check
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the museum and offsite locations for extended periods of time during meetings, training, events, and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups in person, over the phone, and via virtual platforms, including facilitating meetings and training sessions.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and technology, including computers, keyboards, mobile devices, and audio/visual equipment, with repetitive hand and finger motion.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials (such as program supplies, signage, or training materials) weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, crouch, and kneel occasionally while supporting programs, events, or volunteer activities.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, public-facing environment with frequent interaction with staff, volunteers, corporate partners, and community members.
  • Ability to travel locally to offsite meetings, partner locations, and community events within Northwest Arkansas.
  • Ability to maintain focus and stamina during periods of high activity, including evenings, weekends, or special events, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a corporate and community engagement strategy that aligns with the Amazeum’s mission, guiding principles, and organizational needs.
  • Create meaningful ways for individuals and organizations to bring their skills, expertise, interests, and passions into the Amazeum in service of its core purpose—strengthening community connection through contribution, not just participation.
  • Develop flexible engagement models, including individual volunteers, group and corporate participation, skills-based engagement, and project-based involvement.
  • Design experiences that inspire first-time participants to become long-term supporters, advocates, and partners.
  • Lead the development and growth of the Amazeum’s volunteer activities and programs as a core strategy for community and corporate engagement
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and support individual and group volunteers for programs, events, and projects.
  • Create orientation and training experiences that prepare volunteers to contribute effectively while being welcomed and valued.
  • Develop recognition and appreciation practices that reflect the value and impact of volunteer contributions.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to identify opportunities where community volunteers and corporate volunteer engagement can add value.
  • Serve as a connector between internal needs and external community assets.
  • Lead new employee orientation sessions and create a consistent, welcoming experience that connects new hires to the Amazeum mission, values, and culture.
  • Act as onboarding “buddy” for full-time new hires during their first 30 days, providing purposeful support, check-ins, and feedback loops.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and maintain training content, standard operating procedures, and onboarding guides for employees.
  • Partner with People Services and leaders to ensure alignment of training with organizational needs.
  • Build and maintain authentic relationships with community organizations by representing the Amazeum externally as a visible, approachable ambassador for our mission and volunteer opportunities.
  • Be socially aware and attentive to opportunities for connection, engagement, or partnership, and share them with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Actively engage with internal teams across the museum to stay informed about initiatives, priorities, and needs, ensuring volunteer efforts, training, and community connections are aligned and well-supported.
  • Establish and manage systems for tracking volunteer, corporate, and group engagement activity.
  • Determine key data points to collect and measure (e.g. hours served, corporate versus individual participation, impact measures) and establish consistent methods for collection.
  • Maintain accurate records to support reporting for various needs and audiences and compliance.
  • Analyze volunteer trends and provide insights to improve recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
