Student Health Education Centre (SHEC) Volunteer Coordinator (x 2)
About The Position
SHEC is a peer-run health promotion, education, and referral service for McMaster University students. SHEC focuses on engaging with students about health-related issues through peer support, events, and campaigns. The two Volunteer Coordinators are responsible for all administrative tasks relating to onboarding, tracking, and management of volunteers as well as the organization of volunteer socials and appreciation events. Volunteer Coordinators will also work with the Training and Development Coordinators to design and facilitate training for SHEC peer support volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinators work closely with one another and the SHEC Assistant Director to manage important aspects of SHEC's internal functioning regarding Peer Support Volunteers.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Attention to detail
- Leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to work in a team and act as a support
- Interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships within and outside of SHEC
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to balance multiple duties and schedule multiple events
- Previous leadership experience
- Personal computer
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with SHEC is an asset
- Some availability in summer months preferred for gearing up for the new academic year
Responsibilities
- Administrative tasks relating to onboarding, tracking, and management of volunteers
- Organization of volunteer socials and appreciation events
- Work with the Training and Development Coordinators to design and facilitate training for SHEC peer support volunteers
- Manage important aspects of SHEC's internal functioning regarding Peer Support Volunteers
- Provide on-going support to all SHEC volunteers and complete debriefs after challenging peer support sessions
- Ensure the internal scheduling of SHEC runs efficiently and smoothly
- Maintain confidentiality of all individuals accessing SHEC services
