About The Position

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to help oversee the day-to-day operations of The Hospitality Center. This role ensures the center provides homeless individuals seeking assistance with the necessary tools to accomplish their goals. The Volunteer Coordinator will help maintain a schedule of operations within the center, including hours of operation, use of equipment and supplies, and a schedule of external support providers. They will also oversee volunteers and be available to assume the responsibilities of The Program Coordinator in their absence.

Requirements

HS Diploma or GED required
Two years in a human service organization preferred
Two years experience working with adults with severe and prolonged mental illness and/or two years experience working with people in recovery and/or personal experience with both

Responsibilities

Trains and oversees all volunteers working at The Hospitality Center
Participates in and helps oversee daily activities including: opening and closing the center, scheduling and use of laundry & showering facilities, scheduling on sight activities including on sight presentations by collaborating agencies and assuring a clean and safe environment for the center’s guests, volunteers and staff
Assists in providing linkages for homeless individuals within the community
Helps design, promote and participate in activities and events that promote empowerment and recovery
Providing continued support and advocacy for homeless individuals and their families
