About The Position

Crooked Media is seeking a Volunteer & Community Engagement, Senior Associate for its Politics department. This role is crucial for advancing the organization's political and societal impact by growing and mobilizing its audience. The position involves engaging infrequent action-takers through educational and inspirational programming, and managing the VSA Community, a group of highly committed individuals. The Senior Associate will foster an environment where VSA community members feel supported, invested in, and rewarded for their contributions, potentially guiding them from occasional donors to individuals running for office or community leaders. The role is based in Washington D.C. with a hybrid schedule, and candidates based in or willing to relocate to D.C. are preferred.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of related experience (organizing, community building, campaigns, advocacy)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Understanding of political organizing and mobilizing people for political action

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a strategy to increase audience engagement and skills.
  • Develop programming for the broader action-taker community, including trainings, expert talks, and partner conversations.
  • Manage the VSA community experience, including exclusive programming like founder conversations, elected official briefings, advanced trainings, and community-building events.
  • Identify and cultivate VSA community leaders, providing them with leadership development support.
  • Collaborate with the Political Programming and Strategy Manager to align community and volunteer programming with VSA's political strategy.
  • Handle operational aspects of programming and community management, including virtual event logistics, platform management (Slack, Mobilize, Action Network, etc.), communications, materials preparation, and partner engagement.
  • Track, measure, and report on engagement metrics for both audiences.
  • Develop feedback loops to gather community insights and improve programs.
