Individuals occupying coaching positions are responsible for developing fundamental skills and an understanding of the rules of the sport in participants, modeling and fostering cooperation, sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Coaches determine the system of play to be used and develop and implement best strategies and methods to carry out the system. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for participants and fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity in their program. Coaches must also ensure student-athlete eligibility and monitor their behavior. Coaches oversee the issuance and inventory of equipment, maintain accurate financial and administrative records, and assist with program-related logistics. Coaches are responsible for staying current with industry standards, rules, and coaching techniques.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Developing fundamental skills and an understanding of the rules of the sport in participants.

  • Determining the system of play to be used and developing and implementing best strategies and methods to carry out the system.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for participants.
  • Fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity in their program.
  • Ensuring student-athlete eligibility and monitoring their behavior.
  • Overseeing the issuance and inventory of equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate financial and administrative records.
  • Assisting with program-related logistics.
  • Staying current with industry standards, rules, and coaching techniques.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
