About The Position

North Haven High School is seeking a Volunteer Assistant Coach for its Boys’ Basketball Team. This role involves working closely with the athletic department and head coach to develop student-athletes' potential, ensuring their supervision and safety, and contributing to the overall management of the team and its equipment.

Requirements

• Must possess, or be working towards a Connecticut Coaches Certification (must be in place before the season begins).
• Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified before the first practice.
• Previous coaching and/or playing experience with the sport.

Responsibilities

• Work and communicate with the North Haven Athletic Department, including the athletic director and administrative assistant in all necessary capacities.
• Supervise student-athletes at all times, including all practices and games.
• Supervise student-athletes during transportation to and from “away” games.
• Assist head coach in scheduling, organizing, preparing and implementing practice sessions on a regular basis to develop the student-athletes’ greatest potential.
• Demonstrate positive characteristics and serve as a role model for student-athletes.
• Assume all duties assigned by head coach.
• Assist head coach in maintaining accurate inventory/record of equipment and uniforms and assist in submitting an itemized report at the end of each season to the athletic director.
• Assist head coach in being responsible for constant care of equipment and facilities.
• Assist head coach in communicating effectively with parents as it relates to student-athletes, which includes being a part of preseason meeting.
