About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions for the volleyball team. The coach will develop and implement game strategies, teach fundamental skills and rules, and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips. A key aspect of the role involves monitoring academic progress and supporting students in balancing athletics and academics, while also promoting discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship. The coach will ensure compliance with all athletic regulations, manage team equipment, collaborate with the athletic director, and maintain open communication with parents and guardians. Additionally, the role includes providing mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities, and enforcing all school policies.

Requirements

  • Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
  • Valid FHSAA certification.
  • Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of the sport’s rules, techniques, and safety practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level.
  • Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes.
