About The Position

The Deer Park School District is seeking two Assistant Volleyball Coaches for Deer Park Middle School. The purpose of this role is to provide knowledge, motivation, and leadership in an activity where students can excel to their full potential, contributing to their overall education, physical well-being, moral character, and social and mental development.

Requirements

• Must be 21 or older for Assistant Coach.
• Must have a current First Aid/CPR certification or be able to acquire it by the start of the season.
• Understand the activity/sport, its safety practices, techniques, rules, and progression of skill development.
• Demonstrated successful experience building relationships with players, parents, and the community is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous applicable coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes regarding the techniques, rules, and safety practices of the sport.
• Schedule, organize, and conduct practices in conjunction with the Head Coach.
• Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up, knowing where all participants are at all times.
• Supervise athletes on buses on trips to other schools.
• Promote the entire interscholastic program of the school and direct the program in harmony with the total school program.
• Set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct, including respecting and supporting contest officials.
• Foster among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle to student-athletes.
• Adhere to all safety laws and district policies.
• Follow the injuries, care, and prevention procedures of the Deer Park School District.
• Report on injuries to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Recognize and adhere to any athlete's health plans.
• Communicate with parents in a timely, proactive, and professional manner.
• Provide equal opportunities for all athletes as per the student nondiscrimination policy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach/ Athletic Director.
