About The Position

The Voice for Non-Majors Graduate Pedagogy Assistants work with a supervising faculty member to support instruction for non-majors at the Conservatory who are interested in learning the fundamentals of voice technique and singing performance. This employment opportunity takes place through the Voice for Non-Majors course.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Currently enrolled in either the MFA in Musical Theater Vocal Pedagogy or the MM in Vocal Pedagogy at the Conservatory
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with a range of levels of interest and skill
  • Ability to strengthen the confidence of students in the class
  • Experience working with singers on voice fundamentals

Nice To Haves

  • Classroom experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage syllabi and classroom materials and take attendance for their classes.
  • Under the guidance of a supervising faculty member, explore technical concepts, select and coach repertoire and styles, and give feedback on in-class performances.
